Local storage: Backups are always saved locally first — in ~/ai-chat-backups/ on the server (local/LAN setup) or in the backup_data Docker volume (production VPS). Cloud upload via rclone is optional and runs after the local backup is written.
Cloud setup (optional): SSH into the server and run rclone config to authenticate. Then set the remote above (e.g. gdrive:ai-chat-backups).

⚠ Report completeness depends on the browser extension
  • The extension captures chats in real-time when you visit AI platforms in the browser.
  • For chats you missed (e.g. opened via app, or browser was closed), use History Walk in the extension popup to back-fill. Walk is set to run every 7 days by default — for accurate daily summaries, trigger it manually or reduce the walk interval.
  • Mobile/desktop app chats (Claude app, ChatGPT app, etc.) cannot be captured automatically. Kimi is the exception — it has API-based daily sync.
  • Summaries will only reflect what was synced before the report was generated at midnight local time.
